fold. maps, 63 litho. plates. Original brown ribbed cloth, printed
spine label (Thirtieth Congress-First session. [House.] Ex.Doc.

An important source book for the early Southwest and adding
California to the Union. Captain Abraham Robinson Johnston was
killed in action at San Pasqual in the early morning of Dec. 6,
1946 during the brief Bear Flag War. His posthumous notes,
included by Brig. Gen.S.W. Kearny, gives a good account of the
fighting and careful notes and drawings on the local Indians. In
addition to Emory’s and the Johnston diary are reports of Lt. J.W.
Abert and Lieut. Col. P. St. George Cooke. Samorano 80, #33; Howes
E-145; Cowan p. 195. I.D.#07387.
