(text) 222 plates (photos, plans, details Black half calf. Hinges
cracked but holding. Some foxing. A comprehensive design book that
all Navy boats had to follow. Gives distinctions between a dingny,
a cutter, a gig whaleboat, a barge, a launch, a balsa and a steam
cutter. While Navy boats were neither sleek nor sportive, they had
hull designs that were extremely stable in rough weather and did
not require sailors or seamen of extraordinary competence to man
