In: Am. Antiq. Soc. Trans., V.2. American Antiquarian Society. Philadelphia. 1836. 8vo, [ii],422 p. Laid in folding india paper map. New brown linen, neat, uncut. Text lightly foxed. Gallatin is best known for writings on politics and monetary policy; this study which took on a hobby aspect, is a dedicated pioneer effort to understand and communicate with Indians and to build dictionaries of their tongues.
