Oceans finished in avocado green with International Date Line,
north and south tropic "sun lines", ocean currents, and ocean
deeps. Laid into round steel cradle, felted, with horizon ring
raised on six conforming steel ferules. Unusual in that the orb is
by Johnston with the cradle by George F. Cram Co. Air speed
distances shown for both propeller and jet aircraft. Pakistan and
Israel are shown and with Indo-China no longer French. One surface

lecture platform floor stand. Good physical globe without national
boundaries but showing major cities. Heights of some mountains
given and many oceanic "deeps". Orb damaged with crack in south
Atlantic and surface loss in central Africa. Cradle handcrafted

Dairen, Seoul called Keijo, capital of Gorno-Altai Republic today
called Stalinsk. One surface dent, some surface rubbing.

unusual on globes. International Date Line, Ecliptic, nautical
distances and analemma. Good depiction of the earth's physical
features with varying shades of color, North American and Asian
railroads and ocean depths. Elegantly mounted on a cast iron full
ring meridian and cradle atop a fine mahogany Duncan Phyfe style
tripod stand with brass paw sabots. Surface cleaned and recolored
in spots. A beautiful fine residence library globe with a very
legible surface. Shows British Mandate in Palestine. Designation "Manchukuo"

wingnut for precise readings. Oceans finished in turquoise green
with nautical distances and analemma with note on its purpose.
Nickel plated cast pot metal full ring meridian within cradle
fastened with wingnut. Orb and cradle fixed to an elegant high
quality walnut Duncan Phyfe style floor stand with baluster column
with palm leaf motif, four incurvate fluted legs ending with brass
paw-like sabots. A very good quality well constructed piece of
furniture. Bright, extremely legible map surfaces. Nautical routes
shown with tiny steamships. Shows the Saar in Europe. Ethiopia
shown as Italian. The Library series, on either floor or table

Beckley-Cardy, renamed the Universal and supplied with their
label. Cast metal full ring meridian in cradle. Mounted on a
period mahogany stained Duncan Phyffe style four-foot floor stand.
Shows the Saar region in Europe which voted in 1936 to return to
Germany, Ethiopia designated Italian and Manchukuo shown in Asia.
Surface faded and rubbed but very legible and nicely toned.

bracket on an inverted bell form wood column and turned walnut
base. Map surfaces show the immediate pre World War 2 geography
with Austria and Czechoslovakia absorbed into the Third Reich.

short supporting legs. Cradle is marked Rand McNally Patent No.
3.2014290-2029252. Shows Pakistan but Korea and Indochina still

celestial equator, ecliptic, autumnal and vernal equinoctial
colures, summer and winter solstitial colules. Dates of the year
showing that visible at any given time. Names the zodiac
configurations but does not show them. Popular configurations such
as "big dipper," "the sickle," etc. shown by yellow lines. With
full ring goldtoned cast meridian laid into a bent wire cradle
that supports an horizon ring with printed table of time, degrees,
zodiac signs, compass headings and months. Fine condition. Among
the last celestial globes as known for centuries for NASA and the
Hubbell telescope provide a more realistic view of the universe

Pole. Oceans finished in deep pea green with a few nautical
distances and the International Date Line. Mounted on
articulated conforming ferrules refinished in black. Surface
re-shellacked 'antique' style and custom mounted. On an ebonized
cross stretcher table stand with four vertical turned legs, each
topped by turned brass finials. Stand partially finished in
green to match the globe surface. While made from some small
piece of furniture, the mounting is well thought out and stylish
with a decided arts and crafts image. Custom globe mountings are
often the creations of antique dealers, using salvaged parts,
having a makeshift aspect. This effort is unusual and unusually
successful.

its emphasis on physical geography. Topographical features
emphasized with fewer than usual place names. In an art deco
bent wire cradle with unique hinged horizon ring at equator.
Very dust soiled with many small surface abrasions. Horizon
ring scale rust spotted. Vietnam and Korea divided but prior to
the United Arab Republic period. 'Centennial' probably refers
to the hundredth anniversary period of Rand McNally.

Equinoctial Colure, land elevations and water depths and with
large analemma scale in Pacific. Laid into a crackle-finished
steel cradle with horizon ring supported by six conforming steel
struts. Horizon ring base designed by the late Mr. Douthit,
president of The George F. Cram Company. Horizon ring shows
distances, time and latitude with degree scales. Egypt and Syria
joined as United Arab Republic, 1958-1961. Cram's best schoolroom
globe of the period, employing their new (1958) "Tuffy"
unbreakable plastic orb; a strong selling point for globes used in
schoolrooms over pasteboard orbs. First Tuffy in the 16" orb size.
Face somewhat soiled with cigar burn damage spots on orb and

plastic. Oceans finished a medium blue. Shows nautical distances,
International Date Line, Equinoctal Colure, land elevations and
water depths and with large analemma scale in Pacific. Laid into a
crackle-finished steel Douthit cradle with horizon ring supported
by six conforming steel struts. Horizon ring shows distances, time
and latitude with degree scales. Only Egypt shown as United Arab
Republic. Slightly later edition of I.D.#05959, also printed in
1962. Cram's best schoolroom globe of the period, very
comprehensive. I.D.#07552.

Indianapolis. c1963. Dull coated paper gores over plastic, time
dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in an unusual shade of deep
green, with nautical currents emphasized. Shows elliptic,
equinoctial colure, a few nautical distances and analemma. Cast
gilded iron full ring meridian in conforming cast ferule, raised
on round stepped crackle finished pressed steel base. Map surfaces
show only Egypt as United Arab Republic. Gores loosening from orb
with margin losses, surface shows sun crackling. I.D.#09962.

time dial. Oceans and continents colored similarly to their

analemma. Full schoolroom demonstration mount with all wood
horizon ring articulated to chromed conforming ferule on square
blond wood base with adjustable cast iron bracket. Only Egypt
remains as United Arab Republic. Few slight surface blemishes and

mount stand with incurvate legs and brass sabots dating from the
1930's. Internally lighted the ensemble shows a nice period
effect. Couple surface blemishes restored. Only Egypt shown as

rather than spelled out in words. On mount of articulated strap
steel, blacked, with round cone base with wall hanging hole.
Emphasis on physical rather than political features. Mountain
heights and ocean depths shows by varying shades of color. Only
Egypt shown as United Arab Republic. Surface very soiled and

markable dull coated gores over pasteboard. With neither North

determined by a compass and 24 hour scale around the black plastic
table base. Dual full ring clear plastic meridia, one fixed the
other moveable, with scales; that which moves determines the time
from the scale on the base. Topographical features are emphasised
with only a few major place names including Ho Chi Minh City. One
surface dent and some abrasions, equator band present but
