W. & A.K. Johnston. 12 Inch International Globe Constructed from the latest authorities. Warranted absolutely accurate. [title on label] ... Copyright by W. & A.K. Johnston Ltd. W. & A.K. Johnston. Edinburgh. c1915. 12 inch plaster orb with coated very detailed steel engraved gores, Oceans in olive green with time dial at North Pole. Ocean currents and isothermal lines emphasized but with equator, ecliptic and large analemma and undersea cables. International Date Line in red. Full ring cast iron meridian mounted in a conforming cradle raised on a bronze three leg table stand with paw feet and raised floral motifs. Cradle supports a laminated wood horizon ring with colored meridian table with months, zodiac signs, time degree scale. Mountain ranges shown with minute hachures. Petrograd shown in Russia but not yet Czechoslovakia. Huge Austro-Hungarian Empire. Some surface soiling, discoloring and small blemishes, horizon ring scale chipped with some losses but an ideal World War I period globe.  I.D.#10060.  SOLD.

Rand McNally & Co.'s New Twelve Inch Terrestrial globe. Chicago. 1916 Revised. Coated paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in avocado green with Ecliptic, Equinoctial Colure, Isothermal Lines and elliptical analemma. On the full mount stand of full ring firmly fixed to the patented Rand McNally tripod Gothic Revival stand with wooden horizon ring with paper scale. Stand incorporates the three globe bosses, three globes being grasped by talons and the company cipher within escuscheons. Same orb as I.D.#07286 but on the most complete mount. Once repaired and partially relacquered in southern hemisphere. I.D.#14695.

Rand, McNally & Co.'s New Twelve Inch Terrestrial globe. Chicago. 1916 Revised (actual date) ©1891. Coated paper gores over pasteboard, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in dark blue green with Equinoctial Colure, Ecliptic, Isothermal lines, ocean currents and O-form analemma. Axis pivoting only without meridian, from offset bracket mounted on Rand, McNally gothic revival bronze tripod stand. Very few surface blemishes but two long cracks in Pacific and Asia areas. Nice Rand, McNally globe from the middle of the Great War. I.D.#07286.

Oceans finished in pea green with isothermal lines, ecliptic, equinoctial colure, ocean currents and elliptical analemma scale. Full mount cast iron table stand with patented Rand McNally gothic tripod base, cast full ring meridian in cradle with thumb screw adjuster to which is fixed a wooden horizon ring with lithographed month and latitude scale. Shows Petrograd in Russian, German colonies in Africa. I.D.#08773.

Johnston/A.J. Nystrom. Chicago. c1917. Coated paper gores printed in Edinburgh, Scotland  over plaster. Time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in avocado green with Equinoctial Colure, Ecliptic, tropics of Cancer and  Capricorn, isothermal lines and ocean currents. Cast bronze offset bracket with spindle on raised tripod base with paw feet. Petrograd shown in Russia, pre-Versailles Europe. Russia called Russian Empire. Nice condition. SOLD. I.D.#10098.

Weber Costello Co. 12 inch Terrestrial globe. C.S. Hammond & Co. New York. Copyright by W. & A.K. Johnston, Ltd. Chicago. c1917. Coated paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in dark avocado green with isothermal lines, ecliptic, Equinoctial Colure/International Date Line, ocean currents and analemma. Offset cast bracket on Weber Costello tripod stand with paw feet. Still shows Austria-Hungary in Europe, Petrograd in Russia but German colonies gone from Africa. Copper engraved gores done in Edinburgh. Interesting Great War issue showing major world railroads. Quite handsome. I.D.#08776.

Weber Costello Co. Peerless 6 inch globe. Terrestrial globe... Pat. Aug. 3, 1909 Copyrighted. Weber Costello Co. Chicago Heights, Ill. 1918. Coated paper gores over pasteboard, without time dial. Oceans finished in pale gray with Equinoctial Colure, Ecliptic, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and analemma with note. Bent wire stand without meridian. Child's individual schoolroom globe. Few surface dents in southern hemisphere, losses from horizon scale and dust soiling yet well preserved. Still shows "Congo State" which became the Belgian Congo in 1908 but now with "Petrograd" in Russia, a name first used in 1914. German colonies gone in Africa, Austria-Hungary broken up but the Versailles borders not yet shown in Europe. Interesting pre-Versailles Treaty version. I.D.#08982.

CHILD'S SCHOOL GLOBE 

Rand, McNally & Co. Rand, McNally New Six Inch Terrestrial globe. Pat Aug. 3, 1909 Copyrighted. Rand, McNally & Co. Chicago. 1919. Colored gores on coated stock over pasteboard without time dial or meridian. Oceans finished pea green, analemma scale in Pacific. Attractive title graphics. On bent wire stand fashioned to correct inclination. Detailed map surface, orb may have been available on other mounts. Post Versailles Treaty Europe with Polish Corridor and Czechoslovakia, German colonies gone from Africa, Russia is shown during the Kerensky Provisional Government period with St. Petersburg still called "Petrograd" rather than Leningrad, Baltic states still independent. Afghanistan is called "Balochistan", Indo China called "Annam". Mongolia and Manchuria are a part of "China" which was the Chinese Republic. Losses to equator scale with separating. Individual children's schoolroom globes such as this are fragile. I.D.#10044.

VERSAILLES TREATY PERIOD DIPLOMAT'S GLOBE WITH 30 INCH ORB IN RARE MISSION OAK STAND

Anglo-American  Rand McNally & Co. | W. & A.K. Johnston. 30 inch Terrestrial globe. Manufactured by Rand McNally & Co. Chicago / New York Rand McNally & Co. Chicago. c1919. 30 inch orb with time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in pale green with ocean distances and ecliptic but emphasis is on political geography. Polished steel full ring meridian set on steel roller bearings within full mount cradle with four conforming braces supporting horizon ring. Entire structure fashioned from handsome plain quarter sawn oak as is the massive square supporting plinth above four extended feet. Horizon ring paper scale faded but largely intact; orb surface professionally restored. The gores are Scottish, done in Edinburgh by W. & A.K. Johnston, the Rand McNally title label was later applied. The mounting was probably done in Chicago as many big globes of this period were custom made. A dramatic statesman's globe of impressive proportions and appearance. I.D.#10427.  Link to more photos.  

ON MISSION OAK STAND

Weber Costello Co. The Book of Knowledge, 2 West 45th Street, New York. Educate your children - it pays. Natural Scale - 1:42,400,000. 670 miles to one inch. ...Pat. Aug.3, 1909 Copyrighted. Weber Costello Co. Chicago Heights, Ill. c1919-20. 12 inch orb with dull paper gores, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in olive green with Equinoctial Colure, Elliptic and analemma in Pacific. Mounted without meridian from an offset bracket above an oak peg-fitted table stand. Surface dimple over U.S., some equator strip scale loss. Some darkening. Post-1918; mentions Petrograd in Russia, Yugo-Slavia, Czechoslovakia. Scarce early advertising globe with label pasted to surface over Weber Costello logo. The 1912 patent date coincides with the first edition of the Book of Knowledge. Shows large parts of Africa unexplored, to such extent that the book said that dinosaurs might still be found there! I.D.#10229.  (Have more photos if needed)

1920's

English. Lea & Perrins Sauce Standing easel-back tin placard intended as a counter display by grocers. Product, Lea & Perrins [Worcestershire] Sauce bottle stands before depiction of the earth. Aside from a wholesaler in Chile, all others were within the British Empire. Lea & Perrins. Worcester, Eng. c1920. Slightly scraped. Very scarce advertising item. Another firm used a statement on their label: "From the recipe of the Gentlemen of the County." This other firm was able to label their product "Worcestershire Sauce", rather than only the generic Lea & Perrins Sauce. The debate as to which was genuine went on for decades. I.D.#10300.

A Weber Costello globe, with English Bacon gores, retailed by Hammett & Co. with their trade label obscuring that of the manufacturer. Dull paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in olive green with ocean currents, isothermal lines, trade winds and analemma. Offset mounted on a bronzed three-legged table stand, gothic revival with paw feet. Shows "Petrograd" in Russia, Treaty of Versailles Europe. Professionally restored. Once damaged in the Turkestan, India region. I.D.#10302.  SOLD.

Anonymous. "Kitsch" Globe. untitled. Made in England. c1920. 1.6" transfer painted steel orb. Simplified map surfaces. Housing a pencil sharpener. Surface mentions Persia, Micronesia, etc. Reproduces an earlier German toy. Very good condition. I.D.#09966.

American? untitled. [Arts and Crafts copper clad hemispheres] Hand wrought half spheres, copper over plaster, each showing an art representation of the Eastern Hemisphere. Weighted, serves as bookends. American. c1920. I.D.#09919.

Anonymous. "Kitsch" Globe. German. untitled. Orb marked "Germany. c1920. 1.6" transfer painted steel orb. Very simplified map surfaces. Orb within conforming ferule made from stamped tin atop round tan finished base of the same material. Different surface from I.D.#08081 and by another manufacturer. I.D.#08126.

BOHEMIAN CARVED MUSE STAND

Felkl & Sohn, J. Zemekoule. Tiskem a nakladem vy d ali J. Jelkl a Syn. Tovarna na pomucky ucebne v Rostok ach u Prahy. J. Felkl a Syn. Roztok ach u Prahy. c1920. 12 inch earth globe, metal and plaster, coated paper gores. Time dial lacking. Oceans finished in pale green with ecliptic and extensive ocean currents. Surface text entirely in Czech emphasizing Czechoslovakia as an independent country. Shows Petrograd in Russia. Post Versailles Treaty borders. Mounted above a carved blackwood muse figure of Bohemian origin, holding a bouquet in her right hand. Base at her feet seems replaced. No meridian. Scarce newel post pedistal globe. Overall height 40 inches. I.D.#09987.

American? untitled. [Art Moderne copper clad hemispheres with a nude boy atop each] Half spheres, copper over plaster, each showing an artistic molding of two nude boys in contemplation atop a globe of the earth. Serves as bookends.  American. c1920. I.D.#10147.

American. "Kitsch" globe. Art globe bank/paperweight. 3" orb on ornate catafalque-like base. Bronzed white metal, weighted. With motto, "Conquer the world's unrest by saving and thrift. Pat. Aug. 30, 1921. American. 1921. Rare advertising bank. Handsome. I.D.#07772.

Anonymous. "Kitsch" Globe. German. untitled. Orb and base marked "Made in Germany." c1921. 1.6" transfer painted steel orb. Simplified map surface. Base red finished standing pencil sharpener, orb within conforming wire ferule. Design different from I.D.#08081. Shows prewar map but issued after World War 1. Rusted, distressed condition. I.D.#08105. SOLD.

Rand McNally & Company. Terrestrial globe 12 inch. Rand McNally & Co. Chicago. c1921. Fine private residence table globe with dull paper gores over plaster, brass time dials at both North and South Poles. Oceans tinted a bright blue green. Unusual large analemma scale in Pacific and gives currents, isothermal lines and ice flows. Without meridian but raised on a heavy modernistic style cast metal tripod stand with stylized leaf and shield design. Treaty of Versailles Europe, Chinese Republic, Italian Somaliland, etc. Unusually fine condition. I.D.#04066.  SOLD.

FINE GERMAN ART GLOBE

Paul Rath. Universal Globe. Diameter 8.25 inches, Scale 1:60000000 Published 1921 (Made in Germany) Copyright 1921 by Paul Raeth, Leipzig  Privilege of Copyr. in the United Stat. Reserved und. the Act approved (Made in Germany) 1921 by Paul Raeth, Leipzig. Hollow Bakelite orb of unusual size. Without time dial. Oceans finished in avocado green. Text entirely in English. The globemaker Rath is spelled with an umlaut. Bronze half meridian held aloft by a bronze nude Atlas figure with fig leaf kneeling atop a genuine black marble double plinth. Plinth signed F.L.Z. Early pre-Nazi art Aryan sculpture. Title includes curious phrase “All mother states are” and “railways” indicating text taken from a larger orb which had these features. Shows no nautical routes, railroads or other geographic detail other than Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. Shows Leningrad (1924), Peking (1926), Constantinople (1929). Early German globe to show the (German detested) Treaty of Versailles borders. While copyrighted in 1921, probably between 1925-1929. Brought home by a U.S. soldier from Missouri after World War II. Real bronze, quite heavy.  Very Good. I.D.#14762.  (Have more photos if needed)

Full mount cast iron table stand with patented Rand McNally gothic tripod base, cast bronze full ring meridian in cradle with thumbscrew adjuster. Walnut horizon ring an expert reproduction. Shows "Czecho-Slovakia", "Kingdom of the Serbs-Croats-Slovenes." Russian Empire broken up but with Petrograd still shown. Rare short-lived map surface. With cartographic error: No Slovenes but Slavs lived in Yugoslavia. I.D.#08774. SOLD.

Dull paper gores over metal, time dial at North  Pole.  Oceans finished in pale blue. With ecliptic, Equinoctial colure ocean currents and elliptical "race track" analemma.  Full mount cast iron table stand with patented Rand McNally gothic tripod base that has been extended with a brass rod to serve as a floor globe. 35" high. Cast bronze full ring  meridian in cradle with thumb screw adjuster.  Shows Czecho-Slovakia, Yugoslavia called "Kingdom of the Serbs-Croats-Slovenes."  Russian Empire broken up but with Petrograd still shown. Rare short-lived map surface with cartographic error: not Slovenes but Slavs lived in Yugoslavia. Slight repairs on Africa where tipped over.  I.D.#10286.  (Have more photos if needed)

Hammond, C. S. & Co. Philips' 12 inch terrestrial globe. C.S. Hammond & Co., N.Y. George Philip & Son, Ltd. London Geographical Institute. New York/London. 1922. Dull paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in pea green with Ecliptic, nautical distances from England, major railroads and physical features of the earth. Locates Northern Equatorial Current, California Current, etc., ocean depths. Simplified surface printed in England retailed by Hammond in New York. American cast solid bronze full ring meridian raised from bronze tripod table base with paw feet. Shows Petrograd in Russia, post-Versailles Treaty boundaries in Europe. German colonies gone from Africa, Czechoslovakia shown but name abbreviated. Some joint discoloration but in remarkably clean attractive condition with a very legible surface. I.D.#09906. SOLD.

Coated paper gores printed in Scotland, over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in avocado green with Equinoctial Colure/International Date Line, Ecliptic isothermal lines, ocean currents, topography and analemma. Hanging schoolroom globe with suspension bracket fixed to cast bronze full ring meridian. Cords and weight lacking, meridian repaired. Else fine, scarce globe. Shows post-Versailles Europe. Rath, Paul. Lipsia-Erdglobus 33 cm. Paul Rath G.m.b.H. Leipzig (on label) Die Erde nach den neuesten Erforschungen und besten Quellen bearbeitet. Paul Rath. Leipzig. 1923. 13" orb without time dial. Oceans finished in parchment tan, landmasses shown in a lighter shade tan bordered in green. Shows Equator, Ecliptic and Prime Meridian only and broad bands of ocean currents. Europe shows "Tschech-Slow." and other post-Versailles borders. German colonies gone from Africa. Still shows Petersburg in the "Russische S-Reich". While the Russians changed it to Petrograd in 1914 to avoid a German-sounding name, the Germans continued to call it Petersburg. "Australien" takes in all of Polynesia. Offset steel bracket and axis spindle raised from a turned round column and turned round wooden base. Minor surface damage but an interesting globe from a period the Germans wished later to forget. Weber Costello Co. WC [logo] 18 Inch globe. Made by Weber Costello Co. Chicago Heights, Ill... Printed in England... [by] G.W. Bacon & Co. Ltd... Weber Costello Co. Chicago. c1920. Coated paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in light pea green with Equinoctial Colure, Ecliptic, isothermal lines, ocean currents, Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and analemma. Cast brass full ring meridian on art nouveau brazier-style floor stand with mahogany horizon ring above three conforming brackets and incurvate legs, flame motif, with round, clear marble casters. Same style ornamental floor stand as on I.D.#07337 but 18-inch size and in solid brass. Corrosion spots to upper hemisphere, horizon ring has been replaced with fine mahogany replacement. Still shows Petrograd in Russia, post-Versailles European borders. Exceedingly handsome ornamental globe intended for the mansion or top executive office. Overall 46 inches high. Weber Costello’s best of all possible worlds. I.D.#09911. SOLD.

English gores printed for Weber Costello by Bacon, London. Cast solid bronze full ring meridian in cradle with thumbscrew raised from bronze tripod table base with paw feet. Shows Petrograd in Russia, post-Versailles Treaty boundaries in Europe. German colonies gone from Africa, Czechoslovakia shown but not named. Some surface rubbing and soiling, yet a very attractive residence library globe with a legible surface. Later edition of I.D.#08853. I.D.#08989.

Nystrom, A. J. & Co. Form-a-globe (Geoplanus) Patent June 12, 1923. A.J. Nystrom & Co. Chicago. c1923. Colored lithographed globe gores with eyes either end, permitting them to be fastened together in sequence, forming a small terrestrial globe. Rare and in good condition. I.D.#09026.

SCARCE INDIVIDUAL CHILD'S SCHOOLROOM GLOBE

No time dial at  North Pole. Oceans finished in light pea green. Shows equinoctial colure, ecliptic, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and analemma in Pacific. On bent wire stand. Surface a bit dusty but very well preserved. Unusually fine child's student globe from the first quarter of the 20th Century. I.D.#10028. SOLD.  

EARLY NOVELTY GLOBE: CARDINAL RICHELIEU & CALIF AS AN ISLAND + LIONS, TIGERS, BEARS & ELEPHANTS. OH MY!

French. Sphere Terrestre. Avec les grands derniers decouvertes selon le Planisphere universel fait par Yan Guerard, de Dieppe, par l'ordre du Cardinal Richelieu, ministre du Roi Louis XIII. La Rochelle. 1634. Paris. c1925? Interesting rather crude facsimile of the Richelieu globe, created in La Rochelle by Yan Guerard in 1634. 9 inch orb. Gores coming loose from steel orb with some loss of paper. On a wrought iron art moderne stand, silvered. Interesting early novelty globe. Smaller orb than #10091. Very artistic stand, an excellent piece of blacksmithery.  I.D.#10267.

Edinburgh Scotland W. & A.K. Johnston, Limited. Edinburgh Scotland. 1925 after. Good adjustable school globe with platform stand. A Scottish made product entirely, only retailed in the U.S. by Nystrom. Lithographed dull paper gores over plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in blue but shellacked to appear olive green. International Date Line in red, ocean currents boldly in white. Without analemma scale. Simplified surface but with river systems. Little topography or political details. Cast bronze full ring meridian spring fitted on to precision rollers in conforming cradle. Raised on tall adjustible shaft with folding legs, fastened with thumb screws. Ball bearing casters. Surfaces soiled and with some recoloring. St. Petersburg in Russia called Leningrad; between 1917-1924 it was called Petrograd. The world between 1924-1931 before the Japanese expansion began.I.D.#10346.

Some topography, river systems. No meridian but brass conforming ferule. Raised above turned walnut column and base. Vivid color, very legible with no recoloring. Oceans finished in pea green with isothermal lines, ocean currents, trade winds, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and analemma. Bronzed full mount tripod table stand with paw feet, horizon ring a modern reproduction. Length of tape stuck to surface, full ring meridian welded, cracked at South Pole. Shows Leningrad in Russia but does not yet mention U.S.S.R. Desirable small size in best mount of period. SOLD. I.D.#08959.

Shows Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, Ethiopia (Abyssinia), Constantinople (rather than Istanbul). Exceptional "roaring twenties" Chicago decorative table globe intended for a fine Tudor style home. There was a firm of decorators active at this period called Charles of London who created comfortable furnishings of American taste in a mock Tudor or Stuart style. Analemma and "railroad and steamship lines" with distances.  On unusual bronze pedestal table stand, stepped round base surmounted with fluted barrel and offset ornate pivot arm.   Orb mounted by rod from pivot and topped by day/night time dial and round brass finial.  Oceans in brownish green; land in Orangish brown.  Rand McNally & Company.  Chicago. c1925.  Political names indicate at least Mid-1920's:  Persia, Leningrad (1924), Siam Manchuria (Pre 1931, Japanese Empire includes Chosen (Korea). Substantial stand for this size globe.  Shellac uneven; couple of fingernail-size losses in blank part of Pacific; otherwise, a strikingly handsome desk globe. I.D.#10154. SOLD.

Oceans finished in dark green with prime merisdian near Paris. Nothing noted at sea. Strong well formed bent wire stand without meridian. Some place names and topography shown in U.S. but no state boundaries. Shows "Hawaii" or Sandwich Islands, Russia/Siberia (not USSR) More sturdy than American globes of this type but with imperfect register between halves. Probably either Bacon or Philip but with no title or place of national origin. Shows Congo Free State but with distinct Belgian influence. The region became the Belgian Congo in 1908. Emphasis is on physical features. Shows Leningrad in Russia but with Manchuria still independent. Shows British Mandate in Palestine. Discolorations at joints and some dust soiling. I.D.#08093.

Brooklyn, New York, Boston. c1928. Dull finish paper gores over aluminum orb. Stamped brass C.S. Hammond style time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in dark pea green with nautical distances and analemma only. On a cast iron art mounting, green-toned patina, modernistic style, with cast iron half meridian ending in a stylized lotus, raised on a six-footed round base with a recessed band of laurel leaves. Same map surface and base as I.D.#06417 but with the beautiful half meridian. Some surface losses and restorations. Collecting Hammond globes is a hobby in itself. I.D.#08783.

Weber Costello Co. Chicago Heights. c1928. Dull paper gores over pasteboard dressed in plaster, time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in pea green with highly detailed surface, showing ocean currents, isothermal lines for January and July, International Date Line, and very large analemma scale. Cast bronze full ring meridian raised above cast red bronze gothic revival tripod table stand with embossed vine and floral motifs, incurvate legs bosses on knees ending in paw feet. Very legible map surface that shows many place names and railroads. Shows Leningrad in Russia and Manchuria before the Japanese invasion. Shows King George V Land in Antarctica. Some restoration in Canada, Central Asia, and East Indies. A dramatic top of the line fine residence library globe envisioned for the large home or mansion or university library. I.D.#05036.

A child's individual schoolroom globe with the map greatly simplified.  Shows Equinoctial Colure/International Date Line, Ecliptic and analemma. Port Arthur not yet Japanese. Fine condition with wire stand unrusted. In original tan pasteboard printed carton. Three of four top flaps missing, final flap loose. Very rare in this fine state of preservation. I.D.#08262.

A more heavy duty wire stand on a better quality school globe as earlier ones didn't survive in great numbers. Small dent in Indian Ocean but very well preserved. I.D.#10161. SOLD.

Offset mounting without meridian on arts and crafts style oak stand. Shows Leningrad in Russia, Ethiopia called Abyssinia, Istanbul instead of Constantinople. Few surface blemishes and restorations. Denoyer-Geppert Co. Cartocraft Physical-Political 16 inch globe... Edited by L.P. Denoyer... Denoyer-Geppert Co. Chicago. c1929. Dull paper gores over plaster board, later time dial at North Pole. Oceans finished in pea green with International Date Line, Ecliptic, Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and large analemma. Cast bronze full ring meridian in moveable cradle mounted to adjustable lecture platform floor stand. Good physical globe without national boundaries but showing major cities. Heights of some mountains given and many oceanic "deeps". Orb damaged, but repairable, with crack in south Atlantic and surface loss in central Africa. Cradle handcrafted and rewelded. A good geographer's globe. I.D.#07545.

Very simplified map surfaces without air distances or famous flights. With Meridian of Greenwich, Equinoctial Colure, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Company logo in Pacific near Alaska. Half meridian of shaped hollow tin, yellow with brown wood-graining. On hollow tin column with round pressed tin same finish base. Korea not named, no Japanese incursions into China. Surface rusting with losses, base rust damaged. Recolored. I.D.#09004.

Cram, George F. Co. 12 Inch Terrestrial globe. Natural Scale 1=41,420882 One Inch = 653 Statute Miles. 69.17 mi. Length of a degree of longitude, shown at each 10 degrees of latitude at meridian 30 w. Spellings conform to official rulings of U.S. Dept. of Commerce Geographic Section and Permanent Committee Royal Geographical Society... Indianapolis, Ind. c1929. 12 inch hollow orb, probably bakelite, dressed in white plaster, with dull paper gores. Oceans finished in olive green, with Equinoctial Colure, Ecliptic, nautical distances in red and large analemma. An attractive home table globe retailed by Barowe, successors to Prouty, Chicago. Same mounting of axis pivoting from an offset bronzed ornamental cast metal bracket on same turned wood plinth and base. Scarce early Cram globe. I.D.#07311.
