parliamentary divisions & dioceses shewing the principal roads
railways rivers & canals and the seats of the nobility and
gentry with the distance of each town from the general post
office London. Prepared from the triangulation of the survey
made under the direction of the Honorable the Board of Ordnance
on a scale of five miles to an inch and corrected to the present
time. Drawn by R. Creighton, engraved by J. Dower. S. LEWIS &
CO. LONDON. c1850. OUTLINE HAND COLOR. COPPER ENGRAVING. Huge
four part wall map, dissected and laid down on linen, within
dark green long-grain morocco guards. Upper left, a view of the
General Post Office close to St. Paul's. Upper right, handsome
title lettering. Lower right a table of the dioceses of
Canturbury and of York with their arms. Spines of guards gone,
those for the northern sections show different gilt tooling than
those of the southern. An elegant top-of-the line Victorian map,
probably the finest and most detailed of Britain of the time.
