The French province of Lorraine, the Mosel wine district, that centers on Metz and Nancy. Areas of woodlands, once colored green, are oxidized to brown. Fully colored cartouches. As is the case with many maps from this time, north is oriented to the left. Expertly "thymolized", sealed and handsomely French matted and framed under plexiglass. Guillaume Dheulland (1700-1770) was most famed for his large Plan of Paris in 1756 but also engraved for cartographers Charlevoix, Bellin, Cassini and Prevost. Needs slight repair at top and on rod.
