ENGRAVING. Fragment only of a very rare wall size map of a
former kingdom in southern Italy. Seated in Naples but governing
Sicily, Corsica and Sardinia, it was later termed the Kingdom of
the Two Sicilies. Consists only of the title with surrounding
illustration and an inset showing the route of the King of Spain
to Naples for a state visit. Illustration surrounding title
shows the arrival of the Spanish king and his triumphal entry
into the city. Cartographer not cited in Tooley (1st) or the
supplement. F.G. Jollain may have been the same as Gerard
Jollain (or else his son or successor) who published a plan of
Turin in 1713 from Rue St. Jacques a l'enfant Jesus.
Considerable old silverfish worming, browning to mat. The date
"7 Septembre 1832" is stamped on mat at bottom and above in
manuscript, "Gravure tiree des archives de la Ville de Lille
le..." Possibly salvage after a fire? Framed under glass. Rare

war between the Austrians and the allied French and Sardinians.
Shows northwest Italy. The war was intended to drive Austria out
of Lombardy. It ended in a disastrous battle at Solferino, a
village northwest of Mantua (1859) which produced about 30,000
casualties but no clear decision. The Peace of villafranca di
Verona soon ended hostilites. J.H. Dunant was present at the
battle which inspired him to promote the Red Cross. Some tears and
