A NEW MAP OF THE ISTHMUS OF DARIEN IN AMERICA,  The Bay of Panama, the Gulph of Vallona or St.  Michael, with its islands & countries adjacent. / A draft of the  Golden & adjacent islands, with part of ye Isthmus of Darien as  it was taken by Capt. Ienefer. Where ye Scots West-India Company  were setteled. [sic]. JOHN SENEX. LONDON. c1700. OUTLINE HAND COLORED. COPPER ENGRAVING.  Two charts on the same sheet with compass roses and little ships.  Original outline coloring.  Browned, corners restored, margins reinforced.  Note on upper chart reads, "Here ye Indians came down to us & were very kind i helping us to Provision.  Although in continual war with the Spaniards.  Here is fres water."  Handsome period English exploring map.   23.25"H. x 19"W. FULL HAND COLOR. 1872-73.  Pencil, ink and watercolor sea  chart of this important navy base at Manzanilla Limon in New  Grenada now part of Panama. Shows locations of wharves, buoys, extensive soundings. Artistic effort.  Navy Bay or Baie du Limon was on the Atlantic Coast and the Panama Rail Road later had its head on Manzanilla Island. The northern part of the big island is German, called Emperor William Land.    From Cram's Standard American Railway System atlas of the world. GRAY, C. P. GRAY'S AERO VIEW OF THE PANAMA CANAL. C.P. GRAY, MAP MAKER. NEW YORK. c1912. BLUE AND BUFF. LITHOGRAPHY. Not an aerial view but a small relief map of the canal. Shows profile and statistics of construction then under way "to be realized within two years." Map on brown craft paper mount. Early notes show location of Contractors Hill, Gold Hill and Cucaracha. At top of map the history of the efforts to build a canal. Gray made an industry of creating maps and models of the canal. Scarce. Mount weak at folds, map loose at one end.
