constructed or proposed. The Great American Desert is now called

LITHOGRAPHY. Splendid late 1863 transitional map with NM & AZ now divided
vertically although the long horizontal counties still show Santa
Fe including the future tip of Nevada. Denver city is above
"Gold Region", and a second Colorado Gold Region exists along the
Colorado River near "Yumas Indians" who apparently did not share
in that strike. Above that is a note: "In the vicinity of
this place a tract.. is said by trappers to be exceedingly fertile
and abundantly timbered and well watered." What a difference
150 years make!! Superb detail of Indians, forts, proposed RR
routes, Pony Express, U.S. mail and other routes, and missions,
settlements. Copious, interesting notes. Unusually
